ENFIELD, NH May 8, 2012 – Leading Edge Design Group (LEDG), a leading national provider of energy optimization services, announced today the completion of an energy efficient LED lighting upgrade for Associated Grocers of New England (AG New England). Located in Pembroke, NH, the LED lighting and wireless control solution will decrease AG New England’s cold storage facility energy costs by $52,000 a year, save approximately 482,066 kWh of energy annually, and reduce energy consumption by 90%. The lighting upgrade project will also drastically decrease maintenance costs and lower their annual carbon footprint by 660,656 lbs. per year.

LEDG designed and implemented the LED-based Intelligent Lighting System from Digital Lumens replacing the aging, T5HO fluorescent lighting installed throughout the cold storage facility where the temperature is consistently at fifteen below zero twenty-fours hours a day, seven days a week. With best-in-class LED technology and integrated intelligence, the Digital Lumens fixture delivers light exactly where it is needed. As part of the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System, the fixture integrates occupancy sensing and centralized controls to deliver light only when it is needed to minimize energy usage.

Energy Efficient and Green Priorities Result in Utility Company Rebates

Data centers place major strains on a building’s electricity demand, a fact not surprising to electrical professionals working in the industry. Modern facilities require significant cooling, heating, lighting, and electrical power to run racks of high density servers all day, every day. Though reducing a data center’s energy consumption is no simple task, it is a vital one: data centers can consume up to 100 times more energy per square foot than standard office buildings, and the growing demand for data center services will require continued innovation in energy reliability and efficiency.
