We are heading to LIGHTFAIR® International (LFI®) next week. It is the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference taking place at the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The LEDG lighting team is excited to learn about new technology innovations and see what the future holds for the industry. We also use our time at the trade show to evaluate solutions that we recommend to our customers and vet the quality and reliability of a few products. As lighting consultants and specialists, the conference offers us the chance to focus on:
Most lighting manufacturers now have a controls system offering, but they are not all alike. It’s time for us to dig deeper into the specifics of their protocols, interoperability standards, and functionality. Many of our customers are implementing controls and are aiming to integrate other building systems.
A lot of LED lighting products are entering the market outside of the big players we know of. There are rumors of poor quality and inconsistency throughout the industry. Though most products include a 5-10 year warranty, understanding the quality of construction and the materials used for manufacturing is more important than ever.
Application Specific Innovations
All the major lighting manufacturers have relatively the same solutions for office lighting, site lighting, high bay, etc. What new solutions are available for types of applications such as manufacturing, athletic facilities, warehouse, retail, classroom, and others?
We are expecting to see a wide presence of agricultural solutions and look forward to seeing the advancements in this area.
