Upgrades Lighting & Implements Wireless Controls – Significantly Reducing Maintenance CostsDownload PDF
The University of Southern Maine was looking to upgrade the lighting of their athletic facilities. Leading Edge Design Group implemented vendor-neutral lighting technology solutions that reduced energy and maintenance costs – estimated to save 676,000 kilowatt-hours per year – and greatly improved the lighting operations and aesthetics of each location. The improvements reduced USM’s annual utility bill by more than $70,000. Considered one of the largest wireless control system implementations in the Northeast, the facilities are now brighter, have better distribution of light and have significantly reduced overall maintenance costs which saves the university thousands of dollars annually.
“Our energy efficiency lighting project will have significant impact on our bottom line and also benefit the thousands of students and community members that use our facilities year round,” said USM Executive Director of Facilities Management Bob Bertram. “Leading Edge Design Group presented the right solutions and plan for the university and worked tirelessly with Efficiency of Maine to make the project happen within our strict timeline.”
