What We Do

Leading Edge Design Group helps organizations create modern, energy-efficient facilities. We design, install, and support data center, LED lighting, and intelligent building solutions that are reliable, scalable and prepare our customers for the future. These systems are the backbone of today’s modern facilities and are vital to the sustainability and vitality of an organization. Carefully planned and installed, the right solutions will support organizational changes, technology upgrades, and other new demands on your facilities. You can find us doing our jobs in hidden mechanical rooms, above ceilings, on roofs, and below raised floors.

Our goal is to partner with you to understand your requirements and earn your trust. Since our inception in 2007, we have been committed to customer satisfaction. According to our 2016 customer survey, 100% of respondents would recommend LEDG their colleagues.

We are headquartered in New Hampshire and recently expanded to the greater  Philadelphia area to better serve our customers in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and South.

Our Team

We love being great at what we do, inside and outside of work. We work hard, laugh, disagree, appreciate the exchange of ideas, and share an unwavering commitment to you – our customers.

Customers

Our customers inspire us to be great and challenge us to continually improve. We are fortunate to work with amazing customers, large and small. Here is a sample of organizations we work with.

Favorite Client Success Story:

Any project for an existing customer – it is always humbling to have a client return to work with us based on a positive experience they had with our team on a past project.

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

Befriending cab drivers and extracting their life stories.

I Can’t Live Without:

Inspiration. Laughter. Challenge.

Travel with my wife, read, play golf, and cook.

Jay Boucher

What I Do:

Spread myself as thin as possible on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis while providing role model and leadership skills to the troops.

Favorite Client Success Story:

Has to be the lighting upgrade for the manufacturing areas for Hypertherm Inc in Hanover, NH. We replaced the old 400W metal halide system that had no controls with a Digital Lumens LED ‘Intelligent’ solution which dramatically improved lighting levels and provided them with a wireless lighting controls platform and the ability to monitor, measure and verify the energy savings of the lighting solution. This project was a huge success for everyone involved!

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

I like to play the acoustic rhythm bones and have a nice little collection of various different type of bones like natural ox bones, Cordoba wood, oak, cherry and rosewood. Each wood – or bone- has different textures, weights and sound qualities to blend with different types of music. BONAFIED!

I Can’t Live Without:

Not necessarily any order of priority, but they are potato chips, red wine, a good joke and time with my family and friends

What I Do for Fun:

Weekly music sessions with my buddies, golf, travel, quality time on my party barge and enjoying a nice bottle of wine with a great meal.

Travis Boucher

What I Do:

Oversee electrical design services for both data center and lighting projects. Design Power, Lighting, and control systems to meet customer requirements while making the design as practical, aesthetically pleasing, reliable, and efficient as possible.

Favorite Client Success Story:

Associated Grocers of New England’s installation of an LED intelligent high bay fixture and reducing their annual kwh by almost 500,000.

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

I can do the Carlton

I Can’t Live Without:

Family, friends, and golf. If I win the lottery, I will be building a golf course and houses on it for my family and friends.

What I Do for Fun:

Golf. It would probably be more fun if I was better, but, to me practicing/playing is what makes it challenging and fun. If it’s not golf season, I like to ski and play the guitar.

Gary Hubbard

What I Do:

I work with customers to design and specify forward thinking energy saving lighting system and state of the art controls platforms to reduce energy expenses and properly light a customer’s space. As a Project Manager, I collaborate with owner’s, architects, and subcontractors to ensure projects are implemented and commissioned efficiently.

Favorite Client Success Story:

I have been working with City Market in Burlington Vermont for over three years. It started with track lighting and refrigerated case lighting and then expanded to relighting the parking lot and the cash register area. We are now working on a wireless controls platform throughout the store to control lights and various plug loads. To date we have saved them over 130,000 kWh per year and are always looking for more opportunities!

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

I can sing and play most musical instruments I can get my hands on.

I Can’t Live Without:

Music.

What I Do for Fun:

Play music, fish, golf, cut wood, clear land and laugh.

Bill Crane

What I Do:

I am a project manager with Leading Edge Design Group. From the beginning of the design phase to the end of construction, I am responsible for facilitating and overseeing all project related communication. Ultimately it’s my responsibility to ensure all project stakeholders, especially the owner, are constantly informed of outstanding questions, critical milestones, and always have the most up-to-date project documentation.

Favorite Client Success Story:

One of my favorite projects was the renovation of the UNH RCI Data Center located in Morse Hall as it was an amazing “before vs after” renovation. Prior to design/construction the RCI was extremely in need of a face lift. Following construction the RCI Data Center had completely transformed into a state of the art facility.

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

I used to be a professional at Super Tecmo Bowl on Nintendo.

I Can’t Live Without:

A good sandwich, bourbon and golf (not necessarily in that order).

What I Do for Fun:

Golf, horse shoes, bags (cornhole), watching movies, and carousing with friends and family.

David Laurin

What I Do:

I am an architect with a diverse and interesting practice. I work principally in the commercial and higher education sectors designing spaces such as college science labs, office buildings and specialty facilities including Data Centers and Banks. I also work in the public sector designing municipal offices and libraries. It is a mix of new and renovation / addition work.

+ More

Favorite Client Success Story:

I have a 25 year relationship with a client who I met while he was a member of a committee for another client. It was a tough situation that I was exposed to and my handling of a difficult public client so impressed him that he hired me to design a new building for him. I have done all of the companies work since that time which includes several projects a year.

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

Not so hidden: My ability to assess a project in a global nature quickly. Hidden: Getting Hole-in-Ones on the golf course

I Can’t Live Without:

Other than my wife and 2 (adult) children, there isn’t anything I can’t live without. Okay add a sense of humor to that; I would be impossible without one!

What I Do for Fun:

Day trips exploring New England in the summer and fall in my convertible and almost anything I am doing when out on my tractor haying or in the woods.

Dick Podolec

What I Do:

I would describe my job as part time CFO, part time HR director, dealing mainly with accounting and human resources. I help to keep track of our financial performance on jobs and making sure any administrative reporting is done accurately and on time.

I have enjoyed working closely with Defiance Electric and all their employees, as they are both a major vendor and customer.

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

I like working with people. I am very active in community service and will become the Hanover NH Rotary President on July 1st.

I Can’t Live Without:

Competition. I consider everything a challenge.

What I Do for Fun:

Travel and seeing my grandkids are at the top of the list. I enjoy all sports, especially tennis, where I play for USTA teams year round.

Andrew Welenc

What I Do:

Find the individuals who need us. Or, for the non-poets: Lead Generation. Every great story has a beginning, right? Think of me like the start of a long, well written, sometimes hilarious, but always wonderful, story. Like a gentle breeze, I’m just trying to point clients in the right direction (coincidentally, that happens to be our direction) so they may see the potential their facility has to improve.

+ More

Favorite Client Success Story:

I’ve never been one to pick favorites, and in this case how could you with so many to choose from?

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

Well, technically, I am a professional actor, as I’ve been paid to appear in numerous commercials/films/series/etc.   So, I guess the answer is no, there is no talent here…

I Can’t Live Without:

My Ipod. My family.  The New England Patriots. Clothing. Food. Shelter. Water.

What I Do for Fun:

Whatever I’ve never tried, I try it.

John Tabb

What I Do:

Manage projects in the planning, design, and specification of information transport, audiovisual, and physical security systems.

+ More

Favorite Client Success Story:

I worked on a few projects for the Army Reserve in Puerto Rico. The opportunity to work in the Caribbean, especially over the winter months, was great but I also enjoyed successfully navigating complex projects for a demanding client in an environment where there was also a language barrier. I found the people I worked with were great and dedicated to prove that their work was as good as any, anywhere.

Hidden (or not so Hidden) Talent:

I aspire to play guitar and occasionally attempt playing harmonica. I can often catch a dropped object before it hits the floor and am pretty good at ping pong even if I haven’t played in a while.

I Can’t Live Without:

Being out on my bike or at least doing something outside. That and a good craft beer for a recovery beverage..

What I Do for Fun:

I bike a lot, mostly on the road but I also mountain bike whenever possible. I love my weekly group rides and getting out on weekends for longer outings. I like to ski but was spoiled by living in Colorado for a few years and find that now I don’t get out as many days as I should because I have become a weather snob.
