Leading Consumer Goods Manufacturer to Save 1.2M kWh of Energy and Improves Environment

The facilities team at a leading Northern New England consumer manufacturing company wanted to begin upgrading their manufacturing areas to reduce operating costs and improve the lighting output for the workforce. Lamps were continuously out, and the old fixture’s illumination was less than ideal. They learned of the opportunity to use Efficiency Vermont rebates and incentives programs to upgrade the lighting in their manufacturing areas. Leading Edge Design Group (LEDG) provided the company with a detailed facility assessment that outlined which high-bay fixtures could be replaced with modern, energy-efficient LED solutions. With the potential to also receive rebates for daylight and occupancy sensors, LEDG provided an option to implement advanced technology to help the company use new connected LED lighting, Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, and software to begin developing next-generation smart buildings that will save energy and reduce operating costs.

The organization also needed to improve emergency lighting to make sure all installations passed proper lighting for egress standards (unobstructed exit path). LEDG created a new lighting design with improved lighting output patterns that was also submitted for rebate opportunities.

After receiving approval and confirmed incentives from Efficiency Vermont, the company moved forward and installed new LED High-Bays in the manufacturing facilities and new emergency lighting with battery back-up. The new LED solutions provide integrated intelligent capabilities that include wireless, daylight harvesting and dimming, occupancy sensing, power metering, and customizable light distribution. The company also implemented the manufacturers smart building solution that transforms the building into a source of insightful, actionable data.
